★  2026 Emmy Nominee · Outstanding Sound Mixing · Lord of the Flies

Video and photography · Singapore

On location. The whole story.

Camera, sound and edit, from Singapore across ASEAN.

Brand films, events, live talk shows, documentaries, weddings, milestone birthdays and newborn photography. I shoot, record and edit, with a small crew when the job needs one.

My other job is sound for film and television. It earned a 2026 Emmy nomination for Lord of the Flies, and it means the speeches, vows and interviews in your film sound as good as they look.

Brand films and content

For the marketing team of one.

You need a launch film, vertical cuts for Reels and TikTok, and pictures for the website, and there is one of you. Brief me once. I come back with the lot, edited and ready to post.

Also filmed: Instructure (Canvas) at a Yamaha music school in Kuala Lumpur, and Schindler at BEX Asia.

Documentary

A rebrand, filmed from the inside.

WIPO sent me to Luang Prabang to film a brand workshop at Green Jungle Park: the park’s rebrand, its new logo and mascot, and the people whose jobs depend on it.

Three days on the ground with minimal kit. Workshop sessions, the jungle, aerials and interviews, edited and delivered the week after.

Live streams and talk shows

Live for two hours. No second take.

For WIPO’s Cross-Regional Forum on Women Creators and Entrepreneurs in Manila, I was technical producer on a two-hour talk show streamed live on YouTube.

That meant working with WIPO’s team on the script and running order, bringing the streaming and sound kit over in suitcases, and briefing the local AV vendor on the LED wall, cameras and sound. One point of contact for everything technical, from the first call to the last clip.

Events and ceremonies

The speeches, and everything between them.

I film events the way I film documentaries: close to people, quietly, ready for the moment nobody planned. You get a highlight film on your deadline, the full sessions if you need them, and cuts for social.

Forums, launches, galas and ceremonies, for one camera or a small crew.

Weddings

They sang a duet. The film is built around it.

Flower Field Hall, in the Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay. The groom wore a microphone through the day and the band was recorded from the desk, so the speeches and the songs come through clean.

Coverage of the day, a highlight film within three weeks, and all the raw footage. Ask about print boards made from stills of the film.

Milestone birthdays

Eighty years, a live band, every song kept.

An 80th birthday at Temasek Club, with a live band and a room full of family and old friends.

Every song and speech came back as its own clip, in full HD and in a phone-sized copy for WhatsApp, ready to pass around the family. Prefer photographs? I shoot those too.

Newborn and family photography

At home, at the baby’s pace.

I photograph newborns at home, where they settle best. A three-hour session leaves time for feeds and naps between setups.

You receive finished photographs in colour and in black and white.

Sound from a film set

I record sound for drama and documentary. The people speaking at your event wear proper microphones, not only the one on the camera.

A page of photos for everyone

After a three-day forum in Manila I made 42 personal photo sheets, one for each person in the pictures, and sent them out with the full set.

About

I’m Ande Schurr.

A New Zealander, based in Singapore since 2020. I film brands, events and documentaries across Southeast Asia, and photograph families at home. Solo where that is enough, a small crew where it is not. Long before film, I was a primary school teacher, so children and babies settle quickly around me and the camera. Animals too: horses for the Equestrian Federation of Singapore, elephants in Laos.

Sound came first for me, at film school, listening to a trickling stream through a stereo microphone. I still work as a production sound mixer on film and television sets, most recently on Lord of the Flies for the BBC and Netflix, which earned a 2026 Emmy nomination for sound mixing.

On a shoot I’m thinking about where the microphone needs to hide and where the camera gets the best frame. More important than either: how to get someone to light up and show their personality, their laughter, their love, their flair. And how to disappear so the story happens in front of me.

Since 2025 I’ve filmed for WIPO in the Philippines, Malaysia, South Korea, the Maldives, Thailand, Bhutan and Laos. For my sound work, see schurrsound.com.
